Visitor Sunday Tradition
For those who are new to Troop 376 and have boys attending camp July 6th-15th, we have a troop tradition for Visitor Sunday. On Visitor Sunday the families going to see their son bring a couple of dishes of food and we have a potluck lunch with our boys. We then leave the leftovers for them to eat on Sunday night because the mess hall will be closed. I’m attaching the list that we have thus far for what food families have already signed up for. I need each family to sign up for a main dish and then a dish in the category you are assigned to based on the first letter of your last name. You can bring more than this, but this will hopefully guarantee a variety on Visitor Sunday and allow them to also have a variety of leftovers.
· Last names starting with A-F brings Side Dishes
· Last names starting with G-M brings desserts
· Last names starting with N-P brings chips or bread
· Last names starting with Q-S brings fruit
· Last names starting with T-Z brings condiments/relish trays, etc.
1. Please bring plastic containers to leave the left overs in that we leave at camp.
2. Please avoid any nuts—due to nut allergies
3. Please avoid using dairy or mayonnaise products
4. Please bring enough to feed 4-6 people.
5. If you bring your son’s favorite please put a little in a separate dish for him to guarantee he gets some.
6. PLEASE E-MAIL ME ASAP with what you are planning on bringing if you haven’t done so yet so that we make sure we don’t get too many of the same items and to make sure we have enough food for 2 meals.

Times/Date of Visitor Sunday: Sunday, July 12th from 10A-5P .
We have to be out of camp no later than 5:00P sharp. Remember to make your departure quick and not a big deal to not make it too hard for the scout. Due to lack of interest in following each other down and everyone’s crazy schedules, we are all going to make our own arrangements. Above are the directions to camp. If you are looking for someone to carpool with, e-mail me and I will send out a list of people looking for carpool situations and see if we can hook up carpoolers that way.
Other Things to bring with you:
1. Don’t forget water bottles, lawn chairs, bug spray, and sun screen.
2. Comfortable walking shoes
3. A trash bag to bring back dirty laundry with you.
4. If your son didn’t bring the full camp’s worth of clothes with him, bring the extra clothes to finish out camp with.

The annual winter High Adventure trip will be held February 11th through the 15th for all scouts that are 14 by the trip AND have earned at least their Life rank. Right now, I am looking at early rental possibilities in Keystone and the plan would be to ski Keystone, Breckenridge or A Basin for 2 days and spend 1 day at either Beaver Creek or Vail. Last year the total cost was $477 (with skis) to $529 (with snowboard) and we can probably come very close to that cost for next year.
I am sending this early notice to the Troop in order to find out how many folks want to go so we can secure great lodging. Right now we can literally get a ski- in, ski- out condo in Keystone , but I suspect that those will not be available after the first part of July. If you are interested and want to attend please make a $50 deposit with Mr. Bland before July 1.
Parents, school is not in session on Friday and Monday that weekend, and I always get an excused absence for the scouts from the schools for Thursday.

Summer camp is rapidly approaching and I want to send out some information for the parents/guardians to start looking at. I’ve attached the new
Annual Health and Medical Record as well as a
“Frequently Asked Questions” list provided by BSA
which discusses the change in camp physical forms.
This will get us started, and much more information will be sent out in the up coming weeks.
If your boy’s CURRENT Class 2 physical (the one signed by a health care provider) is still valid until the last day of summer camp, the new Part “B” form will not be required this year. If a new physical is needed for this up-coming summer camp, then the new Part “B” WILL need to be used. Either way, all participants will need a new Part “A” and “C” form completed.
After the first of May I ask that parents/guardians start printing off the forms and bring in the completed parts “A” and “C”. Many of the information fields on all of the new forms can be filled in electronically before it is printed and I strongly encourage completing it that way. (It can get challenging trying to read some handwriting!) For cost control to the troop, I will have a very limited number of copies available to only those who do not have computer/internet access.

Health & Safety Coordinator

Attached
are the Merit Badges and Outpost programs
(816kb)
available at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. I encourage you to review the merit badges offered and to take as many as you can.
Specifically: If you have Lifesaving and meet the other requirements, take Lakefront Merit Badges and have backups. If you don't have Lifesaving or Swimming. Take them at camp and have a very enriching experience.
Also take a look at the available Outpost Programs.
We will be signing up as a Troop for these in early April. It would be good for everyone to know what is available and an idea of what they would like to do before we do the actual sign ups.
Yours in Scouting,
John P. Peter
