ADVANCEMENT POLICY TROOP 376

To advance in the ranks before First Class, all requirements for each rank should be signed off in the scout's book. If there are any questions, the scout needs to ask Mr. Adams or Mrs. Glenn. He needs to check with Mrs. Glenn to be sure the troop records also have this information. He then needs to ask Mr. Goertz for a scoutmaster's conference and ask Mrs. Glenn for a board of review.

Advancement procedures for Star and Life:
In order for the scout to complete the requirements for the rank of star and life, he must have completed all merit badges, service hours, and positions for the rank. He needs to be sure he has turned in his completed merit badge cards to the advancement chairman. Please check with the advancement chairman to be sure the troop has everything recorded in the troop records and the scout is indeed ready for advancement. .

The scout then needs to ask his parents and the scoutmaster to write a letter of recommendation on his behalf to the board of review. There is a form to use. Get this form from the advancement chairman. Mr. Goertz has it on his computer so the scout may call him and ask him to generate his letter. These letters need to be mailed to the advancement chairman (noted on the bottom of the form.)

After these qualifications are met and the advancement chairman agrees the troop records show the scout is ready for the next rank, he needs to ask the scoutmaster for a scoutmaster's conference and the advancement chairman to schedule a board of review.

The qualifications for Eagle Scout are more and different than these and the scout should be given a life to eagle packet to work on this.

If you have any questions, e-mail or call the advancement chairman.
