Scout Camp Program for 2004

The Midland Railway Scout Camp program will be held November 12-14th, 2004.

Camp starts with check-in, safety briefing and boarding the train at the Baldwin City Depot on Friday night. After all the troops arrive, we "convoy" the equipment vehicles( 2 per troop please) to the campsite while everyone else rides the train to the campsite.

Saturday consists of activities which allow your Scouts to earn the Railroading merit badge and learn about "real" railroading.

Sunday morning we pick everyone up and return to the Depot for Check-out and departure.

The camping area and facilities are "primitive" so be prepared to bring whatever you would need. We do have an outhouse at the campsite but do not have running water. We also have bunk cars, railroad cars with plywood bunks and minimal lighting, available to camp in.
Important Information for reservations:
1. Camps are limited to 120 participants. This includes scouts and leaders.
2. Camp fee is $15 for tent camping and $20 for bunk car. We require a non-refundable deposit of $10 per participant.
3. Reservations can only be made by calling the railroad at 913-371-3410. We will ask you for a date, number of scouts and leaders, and contact information. A bill for the deposit amount will be sent to you. If we do not receive your deposit within 2 weeks of the date of the letter, your reservation will be canceled without notice.
4. You will be sent a confirmation letter indicating the number of participants reserved and the deposit received. A packet of information and rules for the camp will be sent to the contact person about 30 days prior to camp
5. CHANGES IN RESERVATIONS CANNOT BE MADE LESS THAN 45 DAYS PRIOR TO THE CAMP DATE. This allows us to try and fill unused spots.
6. For bunk car campers we ask that a minimum of 1 adult for 20 scouts stay on the car.
7. Camps are held rain or shine, hot or cold. Be Prepared.

We realize that you are volunteers as we are and ask for your assistance in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We ask that you review the material we will send to you prior to your arrival at camp.

Thank you for your interest in Midland Railway Scout Camp.
