Elk River Canoe Trip
August 9-11, 2002
God granted us perfect floating weather allowing 18 canoes
and 5 kayaks to take 26 boys and 17 adults 12 miles down the Elk River to our camp site in
Noel, Missouri. The Scouts improved their floating (and marksmanship) skills.
Super Soakers, buckets & squirt guns were constantly firing. Scouts also had
the opportunity to review the Safety Afloat guidelines. Scouts passed the hidden
trash test when Tarik picked up the small piece of trash discreetly hidden by
leaders to test their policing of the camp area. Church services, led by Phillip
M, discussed obedience, the seventh point of the Scout Law. Fathers took careful
notes so they, too, can follow this Scout Law when they return home to their
spouses. Special thanks to Todd Otte and Ralph Agee and preparing the food for
all of our Scouts and adult leaders. Fried chicken sandwiches, Caesar salads,
nectarines, apples, Breakfast Pizza were some of the fine foods prepared by our
leaders for the Scouts.
Sorry. No pictures due to fear of Super Soakers and marauding
Boy Scouts waiting to tip over the photographer's canoe.
