Katy Trail Bike Ride
May 16-18, 2003
Camping at Arrow Rock State Park
Biking from Rocheport |
| |
| 28 Scouts
and 13 adults attended the KATY Trail campout. We camped at Arrow Rock
State Park and scouts and scouters rode either 25 or 50 miles. After a
brief rest and good food, a successful campfire included the singing of
Bohemian Rhapsody by 4 scouts. A few skits and a rap version of I'm a
Little Teapot by a forgetful leader.

Directions to Arrow Rock State Park below
We'll start biking from the Trailside Cafe

Bring a bag lunch with your name on it
for Saturday along with a canteen or water bottle. Soda and water will be
provided by the Troop at the lunch stop.
Bike rental is available at Trailside Cafe.
The cost is $20 for all day and includes the helmet. You need to reserve
your bike with a check from the Troop by 5/16/03.
A camping fee of $1.50 per Scout per night
is due Friday night. This is based on two tents per site with three Scouts
per tent. Adults may pay more depending on circumstances.
A transportation fee of $2 should be paid by
each unaccompanied scout and each adult not driving, to the driver of the
vehicle in which you are riding.
The troop will return to the Church about
12:30 pm on Sunday May 18.
Be sure to give Mr. Davenport your signed
permission slip and your payments Friday by 5:30.
If you are worried about scratching your
bike, bring a blanket or old sleeping bag to wrap it in. The bikes will be
placed on a flatbed trailer.
Boys should have drink bottles in cages on their bikes. Sack
lunches will be provided and cold drinks for the boys riding with the Troop.
