| | Weekend campout at Klamm Farm
December 3-4, 2004
Scouts practiced their
scouting skills at the Klamm form in Lathrop, Missouri. The Viking Patrol won
the Patrol competition and was allowed to eat an entire Strawberry Cobbler
cooked by the adults. Anthony won the individual scout competition by building a
fire and answering the most questions correctly about First Aid.
The Wildcat Patrol continued
their cooking prowess by making every meal with the Dutch Oven. They had stew
for lunch, jambalaya and cobbler for supper, and Breakfast pizza in the morning.
A mean game of Ultimate
Frisbee was played Saturday morning before an early exit to avoid the rain was
made.
Cameron completed his Second
Class requirements during the campout.
The night sky was clear with
the Milky Way easily seen. Following very a loud chorus from a group of coyotes,
there was a beautiful sunrise.

A beautiful sunrise seen by a few leaders. We're not sure any scouts have
ever been up in time to see a sunrise.
Meet at LUMC at 8 am this
Saturday, December 4 in class A uniforms. Currently, the weather service predicts partly cloudy with temps between 32 and 49 degrees with a 10% chance of rain. Bring clothing for any potential conditions. Do not come without a winter coat, hat and gloves. The ground may be wet so bring appropriate footwear.
Directions:
North on I-35 to exit # 40.
Turn right (East) on highway 116
Travel 2.6 miles to Shinn Lane and turn left (North)
At the top of the hill, turn right into the parking area.
We'll work on skills for next month's Klondike campout and we'll return to the church at noon Sunday.
We'll have Patrol cooking for all meals. If you didn't attend tonight's meeting and you plan to attend, contact your Patrol leader so the grubmaster can buy adequate food for you.
First and Second year scouts should bring their scout books in a plastic bag so you can catch up on any needed requirements for Scout, Tenderfoot, Second and First Class ranks. |
